This week we see artists and events take advantage of the platforms they have to speak out. Activists take center stage, donations are made to support the future, and the history of music is celebrated.

Sustainable Practices in Urban Communities Advocates for Urban Culture and Pitchfork Music Festival have teamed up to increase awareness and raise funds to improve education and awareness around sustainable agriculture in Chicago.

Celebration of Hip-HopMass Appeal and Live Nation Urban will showcase Hip-Hop through the series Hip-Hop 50 Live. Events will take place across the US, celebrating 50 years of the genre.

Live Event ExplorationThe latest Spotify algorithm will use music preferences to suggest live events for users. Through partnerships with companies such as Ticketmaster and See Tickets, listeners can explore tour dates while streaming.

Masks OffBig news for Broadway! Masks will become optional for theater-goers starting July 1st. The change is in addition to the proof of vaccination requirement that was lifted in April.

Kickstart FundingThe See It LIVE program has been launched in South Australia, providing the live music industry with $10 million in funding. The government intends for initiatives to jumpstart the industry.

Transit Strikes in the UKGlastonbury transit nightmare. A London railway strike impacted the travel patterns of ticket holders at the major UK festival. Under similar conditions, Junction 2 festival canceled its event the weekend prior due to lack of transportation.

Music VaultThe Global Music Vault, tucked away in Norway, aims to preserve the history of music for up to 10,000 years. Working alongside Microsoft they are utilizing technology that will protect iconic music for years to come.

Bonnaroo ChargesAfter his attendance at Bonnaroo, Secretary of State Tre Hargett was arrested for a DUI. Charges have not yet been pressed.

Taking a Ticket Refund to the NewsThe news outlet, NBC5, was contacted by a frustrated Bad Bunny fan in an attempt to refund “fake” concert tickets. Shortly after, Ticketmaster issued a full refund to the guest and stated that the tickets were invalid at the gate because they were sold multiple times via the purchaser's account.   

On Location is recruiting all Lodging Directors to apply to their latest job listing. The candidate will oversee all logistics surrounding the music department accommodation needs.

AEG Presents is looking for an Administrative Assistant to work out of the company headquarters, with primary responsibilities geared towards supporting the sales department.

The first phase of the lineup is here! Slumberland Art & Music Festival (Novemebr 10th - 13th) is a long weekend escape for the house and techno communities. With a focus on production and talent diversity that directly reflects the audience, Slumberland is delivering a first in the Orlando market immersive experience where guests are encouraged to play, create, and engage. The lineup includes Ardalan, Cassian, and Carl Craig.Atlanta’s ONE Musicfest, taking place October 8th and 9th, released its 2022 lineup, including Jazmine Sullivan, Lili Baby, and Jeezy. A special duo will take place, with Rick Ross and Gucci Mane taking the main stage.The Flaming Lips, The Roots, Haim, and Khruangbin, will perform September 16th - 18th at The Big Climate Thing. This eco-friendly festival will take place in New York.

Lizzo and Live Nation immediately unite to give Planned Parenthood $1 million. Funds will be pulled from the artist’s tour.

Sony Music, Live Nation, and Oak View Group have both made public statements ensuring that staff members will have access to abortions through reimbursing travel fees for those in a state with restrictions.  

Live Nation has also shown financial support for activists in the space should peaceful protest arrests be made.
