After initial concerns that the highly anticipated When We Were Young Festival would be a Frye Fest 2.0, it actually happened, sort of. So that means the moniker is still available for Billy McFarland’s next project…coming in November?

Astroworld Settlement The first Astroworld lawsuit has reportedly been settled out of court. The family of 21-year-old Axel Acosta, one of the victims who lost his life during the crowd surge at the festival, was represented by Attorney Tony Buzbee. Terms of the settlement have not been disclosed.

Amazon Music LiveAmazon Music is launching Amazon Music Live, a weekly live-streamed concert series hosted by 2 Chainz this Thursday (Oct 27) immediately following Thursday Night Football. Lil Baby will be the first guest, followed by Megan Thee Stallion (Nov 3), and Kane Brown (Nov 10).

Refund PendingChicago’s Necropolis Music Festival was canceled less than 3 weeks out. The new EDM festival produced by Auris was supposed to welcome 30,000 guests and feature Alison Wonderland, Adventure Club, and Excision, among others. The organizers still plan to host some indoor shows and an afterparty. Refunds are being processed.

Border IssuesZac Brown Band was forced to cancel their Vancouver concert on Friday night after some band members couldn’t get across the Canadian border, despite having played two shows in Canada earlier in the year. All tickets were refunded.

More Festicket Details

More details have emerged from the Festicket collapse and subsequent sale to Lyte, including Festicket’s debts of more than $27 million (further detailed in the article) and its asset sale price of £100,000 to Lyte, despite the original offer of just £1.

Faster Horses Finger Pointing

Live Nation and Michigan International Speedway (MIS), home of Faster Horses Festival, are each denying responsibility for the carbon monoxide-related deaths of 3 campers at the 2021 festival. Live Nation claims that MIS was responsible for the camping plan and rules, while MIS counters that their contract states that LN was responsible for “campsite monitoring and supervision.”

Glastonbury Increase

Glastonbury announced a 19.29% increase in ticket prices ahead of its Nov 3 on sale. While the rising costs of putting on an event are no surprise, nor are the fans complaining, the number of fans backing the event and the increase is a bit surprising. Fans are touting the quality and value of the event; some are even calling the tickets cheap.

Fyre Fest Make Good?

Billy McFarland appears to be dipping his toes back into the festival waters, teasing a new event on TikTok that is coming in November. The Fyre Fest co-founder was recently released from prison and says this new venture will “make up for Fyre Fest.”

Credit: FOX5Live Nation’s When We Were Young festival has been making headlines ever since it was announced in January: the lineup, the ticket prices, the speedy sellout, the additional dates, and their subsequent sellouts. Several blogs and social media posts questioned the reality of the dream festival. Was this another Fyre Fest?

The buzz continued to build as 2023 headliners were announced, and next year’s event sold out in 2 hours - a week before gates opened on year 1.

Just last week, Alkaline Trio and Matt Skiba revealed that the 2022 lineup was revealed before any of the bands had officially agreed to play the festival.

And then the weather came out. With 60 mph winds in the forecast, organizers were forced to cancel day 1, just 1 hour before doors. But the National Weather Service and Las Vegas Metro PD couldn’t stop the music. Almost immediately, small shows started popping up at venues throughout the city. Some were free (All American Rejects, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus), and some paid (Bring Me the Horizon, The Wonder Years), but all were sold out.

Day 2 went on as planned. Stay tuned for Day 3 next weekend.
