You get a festival lineup, and you get a festival lineup, EVERYBODY gets a festival lineup. If last week felt like a whirlwind, you weren’t alone. Once Coachella finally released its 2023 lineup, it opened the doors for many other festivals to announce too. Lineups for everyone - and multiple chances to see the Foo Fighters return to the sage.

NY Times writer Ben Sisario suggests that the switch - effective immediately - “may have been driven by a desire to book more concerts, given Ticketmaster's long-term partnership with concert promoter Live Nation.” It’s also assumed that SeatGeek Plaza will be renamed post-breakup.

FTX Out in MiamiSpeaking of arena breakups, a US Bankruptcy Judge finally ruled in favor of Miami-Dade County, FL, allowing them and the Miami Heat to remove the FTX branding from FTX Arena, following the FTX fallout. The area will now be known as Miami-Dade Arena until a new partner is secured. Branding and signage will be updated in the coming weeks.

Phew!

Transportation Management Services, Inc. (TMS) and its family of companies provide transportation solutions for international events of all shapes and sizes. With an already rich 18-year body of work in the State of Qatar, it's not surprising that TMS Global was selected in 2019 as the national transport provider Mowasalat’s event overlay partner for the tournament bus services (TBS) project. These services for spectators, fans, and members of the public culminated recently with the transportation of the final spectators for FIFA’s World Cup held in Doha, Qatar.

The program assembled for the World Cup was one of the largest for any mega event, consisting of over 3,000 buses, 6,500 drivers, and more than 2,900 operations staff. The delivery team consisted of local members and transportation professionals from 48 countries who facilitated the transportation of over 5.5 million passenger movements during the World Cup.

The first-ever World Cup in this region not only meant the opening of fascinating unique cross-cultural opportunities and experiences for fans, but for the first time ever, venues were at most 40 miles away, allowing spectators to attend multiple matches on any given day. Stadium to Stadium services meant you could watch Ghana v Uruguay at Al Janoub stadium at 6:00 pm, then ride the bus to Lusail and take in Cameroon v Brazil at 10:00 pm.

“The range of languages within our team at any given stadium, transport hub, or metro shuttle meant we could help fans in such a unique way, as we loaded up to 24,000 bus riders in 90 minutes,” said TMS Global Project Director Jimmy Campbell.

In sustainability terms, the TBS program utilized the largest fleet of electric buses (800+) during the tournament, and the Mowasalat Lusail bus depot is officially the largest electric bus charging station in the world.

“After three years of strategic planning with our partners, it is an honor for it to culminate with such success,” said TMS Group CEO Frank Sherman. “From our logistical team to the ground operators and the drivers, it has been an immense pleasure to see our global team come together with our partner Mowasalat to achieve such a historic accomplishment.”

Because we’re not quite over the Coachella lineup drop yet, here are 21 thoughts on this year’s poster.
