As Taylor continues stunning audiences across the US, Swifties that didn’t get tickets do get their day in court. Drake isn’t making friends north or south of the US. And The Cure’s attempt to thwart scalpers forces them to get creative.

Credit: dailyOSwifties go to Court.Taylor Swift fans took Ticketmaster to federal court on Monday in their first hearing in the lawsuit accusing Ticketmaster and Live Nation of violating antitrust rules, imposing higher prices, and “intentionally provid[ing] codes when it could not satisfy demands.” Fans are looking for $2,500 for each violation. About 300 fans are involved in the lawsuit, which is currently not class-action but could be, as the defense has asked for that right.

More legal troubles for Ticketmaster

Official Platinum tickets for his concert at the Bell Centre on July 14th were purchased for $789.54 CAD, but a day later, a new show was added, and the same seats were approximately $350 CAD less and not deemed Platinum. The suit states, “most, if not all, of the tickets advertised and sold as ‘Official Platinum', are neither ‘premium tickets’ nor ‘some of the best seats in the house’ and are, in fact, just regular tickets sold by Ticketmaster at an artificially inflated premium in bad faith.”

Scalpers get creative to sell The Cure tickets.

The Cure did such a good job preventing scalpers from buying tickets to its upcoming tour that scalpers have had to get creative. Instead of buying and selling tickets, they are

. These accounts, with long histories, known as “Aged Accounts”, help scalpers to bypass the Verified Fan program. Others are selling “configs” and “Ticketmaster Logs.”

Live Nation acquires Clockenflap.Live Nation has acquired a majority stake in Hong Kong’s Clockenflap to grow the Clockenflap festival and expand the Clockenflap Presents brand to other events in Hong Kong and the region. The Clockenflap team “will continue to curate, manage and produce its festivals and events.”

AEG wants venues to be able to see other peopleAEG, the 2nd largest promoter after Live Nation, isn't backing its rival’s FAIR ticket act calling for regulation of the secondary market. Instead, it has its lobbyists working hard to abolish exclusive ticketing contracts in the US, similar to Europe, where promoters can work with multiple ticketing companies to sell tickets to the same events.

Drake cancels Lollapalooza Brazil show after partying with 50 Cent.In other Drake news, the rapper canceled his Lollapalooza Brazil performance the morning of his scheduled show, forcing the festival to quickly add Skrillex to the lineup in his place and offer refunds to fans. A Twitter video shows him at a strip club in Miami with 50 Cent the night before. While he did perform at Lolla Argentina and Chile, he arrived late, his performances were shorter than anticipated, and he pulled out of the live stream minutes before going on stage. 

Another Atlanta Festival CanceledCandler Park Music Festival announced on social media that it won’t take place this year, after an 11-year run in Atlanta, GA. While no specific reason was given for the event’s end, they did mention “embrac[ing] this necessary change.” Several other Atlanta festivals have canceled or relocated outside of the city due to their inability to prohibit guns from festival grounds.

CTS Eventim 🤝Mammoth 🤝AG EntertainmentCTS Eventim, Mammoth, and AG Entertainment have created a joint venture to, “strengthen their positions within the global touring market, and help with signing major acts for US and global tours.” CTS Eventim is a global ticketing and live entertainment company looking to grow in the US market. Mammoth focuses on booking, promoting, and producing events, and AG Entertainment is a nightlife organization that has expanded into touring.

More Weekends with AdeleDuring what was supposed to be the final performance of her 34-date Las Vegas residency at Caesar’s Palace, Adele announced that she plans to continue the residency by adding 34 additional shows from June 16 - November 4. Additionally, Adele will be filming the shows to create a concert film, “to make sure that anyone who wants to see this show can see it.”
