Coachella (+ Couchella), Tortuga, and Country Thunder - oh my! We’re still recovering from last weekend - and we were at home. Plus, AEG isn’t immune from scalpers, the first Sphere Experience is announced, and festival lineups continue to Roll out.

Credit: Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp.AEG Recovers and Resells Fraudulent Skrillex TicketsAEG Presents canceled, refunded, and put back on sale tickets for Skrillex’s sold-out Red Rocks show on April 29 that were suspected to be purchased by scalpers. The company found multiple instances of ticket buyers who exceeded the 4-ticket limit, violating ticketing provider AXS’s terms of service (owned by AEG). The reclaimed tickets were available for sale through the Fair AXS platform (similar to TM's Verified Fan program). AEG is considering the same move for Pretty Lights’ upcoming Peaking Lights tour, which seemed to have similar issues. 

Security Threat at Sabrina Carpenter Concert 

Sabrina Carpenter’s April 10 concert in Portland, OR, was canceled due to a “credible threat.” The show was originally scheduled to be at Crystal Ballroom - the venue that received an anonymous phone call claiming that someone was going to blow up the venue - but was moved to Keller Auditorium before its ultimate cancellation. Sabrina promised refunds via a Twitter post. 

Stagecoach Live Stream

Amazon Music will live stream Stagecoach starting Friday, April 28 at 3 PM PT. Performances from the T-Mobile Mane Stage will be available on Amazon Music’s Twitch channel and Amazon Prime Video. Stagecoach’s sister festival, Coachella, is being live-streamed by YouTube.

Bad Bunny Launches Sports Agency 🚀Bad Bunny wants to do the same thing for Latin baseball players as he has done for Spanish-language music: make them mainstream. To that end, he has started Rimas Sports, a management agency focused on helping Latin American athletes with management, marketing, PR, financial advising, and more. Bad Bunny and his partners, Noah Assad and Jonathan Miranda, music execs from Rimas Entertainment, have already signed several MLB players. 

Once-in-a-Lifetime Event Disco Donnie Presents and See Texas Eclipse have partnered to create Texas Eclipse 2024, a one-of-a-kind “mix of cultures, passions, and interests, bringing together a curated experience for all to encourage discovery, exploration, and participation” during the solar eclipse expected to fill the sky April 8, 2024. The event will take place at Reveille Peak Ranch, about an hour outside of Austin, where the eclipse will be visible for the longest length of time near a major metro area (4 min, 20 seconds).

1st Sphere Experience Coming in October MSG has announced its first ‘Sphere Experiences’ immersive production, “Postcard from Earth” at Sphere at The Venetian in Las Vegas. The show, debuting October 6, “will utilize the full breadth of Sphere’s technological capabilities to create a multi-sensory storytelling journey.” This is just one of the ways MSG plans to use the venue that enables multiple forms of content to be delivered simultaneously, allowing guests sitting in different areas to have completely different audio, visual, and haptic experiences.

Lovers & LawsuitsLive Nation is being sued by 3 Lovers & Friends Music Festival guests who were allegedly “pushed, smashed, dragged, kicked, stepped on, trampled and crushed to the ground” by the surging crowd, leaving them feeling “frightened, shocked, anxious and light-headed.” They say the event had sufficient security and medical personnel on-site. 

Northwest Neighbors UniteResidents on the Northwest Side of Riis Park in Chicago are fighting to block AEG Presents’ Re: SET Concert from taking place June 23 - 25 in the park. The petition had over 500 signatures when it was presented to the park district office last week. Neighbors are concerned that there hasn’t been a public meeting yet, and they haven’t reached out to any of them or the business owners who would be affected by the event.

LiveCo 🤝 MagicSpace EntertainmentExperiential company LiveCo has announced a new partnership with MagicSpace Entertainment, strengthening its “commitment to developing, producing, and presenting family, theatrical, and variety productions on a global scale.” MagicSpace Entertainment has over 40 years of global experience producing and presenting national tours, Broadway shows, concerts, museum exhibits, and sporting events.

Rich Paul, Founder and CEO of sports agency KLUTCH Sports Group and Head of Sports at UTA has been added to Live Nation’s Board of Directors. Paul also serves on the board of UTA.Lynsey Wollaston has been named Vice President and General Manager of European Festivals by AEG Europe. Wollaston was formerly Managing Director of Festivals and Events at Vision Nine Group and Global Operations Director at IMG.

  • Frank Ocean almost didn’t perform, started an hour late, and pulled the plug on the live stream to close out the weekend - all because of an ice rink

  • For those watching at home, exclusive merch was available in real-time during the YouTube live streams and Fortnite players could experience “Couchella Island” while songs from Coachella artists play on the in-game radio station.

Tortuga Music Festival

  • Despite the historic rainfall leading up to the Fort Lauderdale, FL country festival, Tortuga was able to open its gates on Friday as planned. However, just a few hours later, fans had to evacuate for a few hours as severe weather came through.
